I have the necessary 17.5k miles in AAdvantage to take an all QF reward flight in Business at some point in the next year. This means, from what I understand, I can fly in Business from any one point in Australia or NZ to any other for just taxes and booking fee.
This is assuming that the most direct route is taken (there are a few rules around stopovers and taking the next flight etc but let's not worry about them for now).

So, thoughts on the best routing to make the most of the miles? I am thinking somewhere from NT or WA that has a good domestic J product, followed by a Trans Tasman flight and (maybe) onwards in NZ. I am based in SYD but don't mind travelling to get to the departure point and seeing some of Australia and NZ while I do it, and getting the 80 SC's from a LAN AKL-SYD on the way back.

For example... BRM-PER-SYD-AKL-onwards. But I think it would be necessary to do the PER-SYD leg as the red-eye - yuck.

Or, I could save the miles, buy a few more and do an international J trip to SE Asia for 30K miles (20K in Y).

Given a blank slate, what would you do?
