Hi,

My wife and I will be flying premium economy to Europe with BA so there are Empower sockets available.

I have just bought a Magsafe empower adaptor for the Macbook Pro so that is taken care of.

However I am blind and can't use the inflight entertainment system without assistance so I want to power my iphone for books and music. I have found the products I want on Amazon but stupidly they won't ship to Australia. I know there are freight forwarding companies but for the value of the items their fee and the Amazon post seem excessive.

The products are:

Amazon.com: Empower Airplane Seat Socket Connector: Clothing
and
Amazon.com: SCOSCHE usbc202m VOLT c2 - Dual 10 Watt (2.1A) USB Car Charger - Car Charger - Retail Packaging - Black: Electronics

Basically one product plugs into the empower socket and leaves you with a car socket and then I plugin the car usb double adaptor.

Does anyone know where I can buy similar products in Australia? Surely there is an Australian business available?!

Thanks for any help or another solution I haven't thought of.

Dale.

If you already have the adapter for the MBP, can't you just charge other devices off the laptops USB port.

I wouldn't invest more in Empower, given most new aircraft are being fitted with proper power outlets of some descriptions.

The empower is designed so its also a car (cigarette) plug as well with another bit, which has more uses !

Isn't the empower limited to 75W (same as conventional plug seat power)? Wouldn't that 150W device blow the breaker? I know I can't plug my laptop in to seat power as it draws too much power.

Why not just get a battery case for your iDevice to give it enough endurance for the flight?

My wife has a Mophie case for her iPhone, and I have the Kudo case for my iPad. Either will run the respective device for a couple of days non stop.
