Backdoor to QF Platinum benefits?
Nice find. Although I should point out that the bid ranges are way outside my pay grade and I suspect most people on AFF:

For those watching at home 70,000 AED works out to roughly $29K AUD. And that's the minimum bid for Platinum status which only lasts 1 year! I don't know about everyone else, but I think you could gain mid or even high level elite status at several airlines by buying and taking flights on those airlines. Certainly Qantas World Platinum status can be had for well under $29K through somewhat judicious booking. Heck at that rate you probably could get Platinum One status!

I suspect rather than the actual status, its the member numbers that the rich want. Like having a specific numberplate.
