Emirates Restores Melbourne-Singapore Connection

On this flight tomorrow (in economy) from SIN to MEL, looking like it will be the lightest loaded flight I've been on since the pandemic travel restrictions were largely lifted.

Currently showing 1/8 first class seats occupied, 18/42 business and 39/310 in economy. Not complaining!

thats the 3am dept time? maybe a bit of a hard sell?

I'm on the SIN to MEL which departs at the very reasonable hour of 10:25 and arrives at 20:35. It's only day 6 of the restored service, still some time to build up the loads I guess.

Reflective perhaps of the direction of traffic at the moment, the 3am (2am?) departure of my aircraft in the other direction is almost full in economy.

Actually I'm sure glad I'm not on the return, EK 405 that night. Bound to be a fustercluck. EK405 departs at 02:25 (but which 02:25, there are two 02:25's) and in expert flyer QF8405 is showing as departing at 03:25, which is wrong. Although based on previous and following nights it will depart at the second 02:25 (i.e AEST) not the first one (AEDT).

Does anyone know what the luggage allowance is for the EK404 flight from SIN to MEL in economy?
And is there a difference if I've booked it as a codeshare on QF? Just a lowly bronze unfortunately 😅

Not mentioned on the e-ticket?

Haven't booked, was wondering if I should go down the QF/EK route or try out Scoot which is having a nice sales now.
Scoot saves me around $800 but wanted to know what the luggage allowance is on EK.
I know QF gives me 30kg...

The luggage allowance is usually listed during the booking process. So best advice is to do a dummy booking and check. If booking using the QF code on Emirates (QF 8404) you will get whatever allowance is published on the Qantas website (I think can find out on the next page after selecting the fare).

I'll have a play around tonight and see if I can find it, thanks!

And that seems to be a deliberate strategy, as part of the sanctioned collusion with Qantas perhaps? They are not price competitive at all, at least for an airline who is running cabins at 20% capacity.

Yay thanks for that, think I found it!
It's 30kg both ways and 3 child items as well, sweet :)

Flying EK405 on QF ticket in whY in a few weeks and curious about lounge access (QF WP) - does anyone know whether EK lounge will allow access when the QF lounges close?

Yes. You get EK in Australia (if open) and elsewhere plus EKF in DXB.

I’m QF gold and flew this flight in economy a month ago. Was terrible. Packed and no service on an old plane. We were a family of 4 travelling and they stuck us in the row of 4 across.

Emirates only allowed me to take in one guest to their lounge. Lucky I knocked back a few veuve cliquots in the lounge to help me sleep.

What happened to the other 2 family members?

They took a seat and waited at the gate. We didn’t go in for long. We were travelling on to Europe in J from Singapore with Emirates but that didn’t mean anything in terms of letting them come in.
