Guys, some one from my family will be traveling for the first time to Adelaide from Lahore Pakistan. Only flight available EMIRATES - QANTAS code share flight.

From Lahore -> Dubai -> Melbourne -> Adelaide.

Now I want to buy Marhaba Transfer service (offered by Dubai Aiport) so that he doesnot have to deal with all the hassle.

I have 3 questions regarding this:

1) Do QANTAS and EMIRATES share the same terminal, which is I guess terminal 3? Or will the transfering person have to move between Terminals to catch QANTAS flight.
2) What about baggage? Does the traveler have to do the onward connection himself or he simply recieves the baggage at the destination (Adelaide)
3) Any one ever tried MARHABA transfer service? Any reviews?

Screenshot of the flight details is attached with the post.

The bags will be checked through to ADL, but he will need to pick them up in MEL to clear customs. He'll then need to drop the bags off at the bag drop point in T1. Just follow the signs for QF Dom.

In answer to you question re DXB, QF use the A380 terminal with EK, which is an annexe off the main terminal. This terminal does have non A380 arrivals so its possible it will be a short transfer service!

Most Emirates flights use terminal 3 which what Qantas uses. Sometimes Emirates flights do use terminal 1, but that is getting quite rare. So in all likely hood it will be the same terminal.

The bags should be checked through to Melbourne. He will have to collect the bags in Melbourne then pass through customs and immigration. He will arrive at terminal 2 at Melbourne and have to walk across to terminal 1 which is Qantas domestic and then check the bags in for the domestic flight. Terminal 1 and 2 at Melbourne are the same building so it is an easy walk.

Thanks for the replies.

This is a great worry for me that luggage needs to be checkedout and pass through custom at Melbourne airport. This means that entry too will be marked on passport here in Melbourne ? Right?

The stopover time at Melbourne is 1h 45m. Do you guys really think that it is possible to do all this in such a short time and board the next flight to the adelaide?

Connection in MEL on your screen shot is over 3hrs. That's heaps and even allows for some inbound delay. As its all on one booking your relatives booking is protected so even if he misses the booked flight they'll put him on the next available to Adelaide, there are multiple flights each day MEL-ADL.

I'd also say if you are really worried and can afford it you could fly to Melbourne a d meet him there to accompany him to recheck the bags and get the Mel-ADL flight.

One more question, likst Marhaba Transfer Service is for Dubai Airport. Is there any other similar service for Melbourne or Sydney airports?

Not that i'm aware of but generally speaking the airports are easy to negotiate.

Does you relative speak any English? Even with fairly rudimentary English, MEL isnt too bad (and it's all located together so no bus transfers etc).

With not a word of English, certainly would be more challenging.

I've never come across or even seen such services, I expect airlines might offer such services but it'd prob be limited to UM's / disabled pax and F class pax only.

MEL is pretty easy to get around, T1 / T2 and T3 are all joined together, with loads of signage to direct pax. Worst case, tell your friend to follow the Qantas signs and he can't really go wrong.

There is one at most Australian airports if you have the money.....
