Emirates have some pretty good sale fares available between Melbourne and KL/Singapore for $695/$701 return (inc. tax) respectively, for flights between 28 Jun - 30 Nov, 2011. They're super-easy to find on Emirates' website and are on sale until 30 June. Here are a couple of sample fares/dates on my blog.
Travel.com.au are covering the same fares for a little cheaper, but they seem impossible to find.
They had a similar mid-year sale last year - same fares, same routes. If anything, the fares are even better value now
