Anyone know what time the Emirates lounge opens at SYD?

I assume that check in is open all day for Emirates and that if the lounge isn't open that I can use the Qantas lounge?

IIRC the lounge is open between 0400-1000hrs in the morning and 1600-2145hrs in the afternoon. Yes at other times QF is the go but it is about a 10-15 minute walk to the EK departure gates

As for check-in they have flights in the morning and again late afternoon, I don't know for sure if they have a check-in counter manned during the day. If anything the counters would re-open around 1400hrs or so for the evening flights

Seems check in opens 3 hours before departure. Frustrating. And also rather boring being at the airport so early and unable to access a lounge.

Except "quelle horreur", there's no more Veuve Clicquot or Louis Roederer in the Sydney lounge but just Moet et Chandon. They may be open 3 hours before each flight but with only Moet, it seems such a long wait now.

I have no status. I am flying Qantas J to HKG. I can access the Emirates lounge at Sydney before my flight?

I believe you will only have access to QF J Lounge.

I can't see why you would be able to access the Emirates lounge.

But that's specific to Emirates' own members.

It's been a published benefit since the partnership was formed.

Qantas Frequent Flyers as well as travellers in premium cabins have access to Emirates and Qantas Lounges.
This includes access to Emirates' First Class and Business Class Lounges in Concourse A in Dubai Terminal 3 and Qantas' award-winning First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Qantas and Emirates Lounges in Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Having said that, EK tend not to encourage it.

If I am eligible for lounge access and departing from an airport with both an Emirates lounge and a Qantas lounge, can I choose either lounge?

We recommend that you use the lounge of the operating airline to ensure convenient gate proximity and access to boarding calls and other flight information.

As Happy Trails has pointed out, yes you do have access to the Emirates Sydney lounge when flying QF premium cabin, with or without status. Although the FAQ suggests you use the operating airline's lounge, the Emirates staff have not ever discouraged me from using their lounge when flying QF. The Emirates lounge opening times being the only restriction thus far. The distance between the QF and Emirates lounges are really not that great. I find a slow walk will still get me from one to the other in just a little over 5 minutes so if you feel like doing a lounge crawl, it is perfectly possible. As an example, in reverse, we stayed in the QF lounge for an Emirates flight 2 days ago, waited until the boarding call was made, left the QF lounge and still made it to Gate 57 on a normal paced walk, even stopped on the travellators (yes we stand to one side so others may pass us) on the way. It is a lot quieter than the QF lounge but there is no barista coffee, although if you need a meal, the EK lounge offering has more selection.

Refer the section under "Emirates lounge access: Qantas Gold, business class" in this link Qantas frequent flyer Emirates first business class lounge access - Australian Business Traveller for further confirmation of you access eligibility.

Happy Festive Season and enjoy
