Up to 100% increase in points required. Being implemented as we speak with no notice to members. Just shocking behaviour, especially after the huge increase in carrier charges earlier this year.

If you have Skywards miles, book something ASAP.

They have form for surprise “enhancements” eg carrier surcharges.

Will the same thing happen with QFF redemption, or has it already? I haven't seen any J availability on Qantas website even a year out.

Just another hit to the already sinking QFF program imo.

Qantas increased the points required for Emirates reward seats in 2020 by moving Emirates into the more expensive partner airline table. I suppose they could increase the price again just for Emirates, or for all airline partners, but that would be a very controversial move. More likely Emirates just continues to withhold reward seats in order to sell more revenue fares.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Sad for you, but given airlines hold almost all the Aces with FF schemes, why should this surprise?

In a panic I rang my friend, a keen points hound but not a member on here.
Turns out she burned about 600k Skywards points 2 weeks ago at the old prices!
Hahahaha. Suck on that Tim

FYI the miles calculator is a bit outdated and does not fully reflect the devaluation. As an example i was on chat today with Emirates Skywards team on a flight I have booked for Augustv23 (Milan -Dubai- Brisbane), the calculator says upgrade from economy flex to business is 81,250 per person one way.

As I am travelling with another adult and infant under 2, in theory my upgrade for everyone should be 81,250 x 2 = 162,500....however when I go to manage my booking it says I actually require 106,470 (Milan - Dubai) + 191,646 (Dubai - Brisbane) = 298,116 Skyward Miles! A huge increase of 135,616 points needed!! Crazy.
The only explanation i got was:
00:21:42 Maryam : I see your ticket was issued on 26th Jan 23

00:22:07 Maryam : There has been some changes to the upgrade Miles for tickets issued after 23rd Jan 23...
