Thursday 6 July's EK435 - 2100 hours BNE - DXB (A380 A6-EEG) was airborne at 2223 hours, so arrival should be at 0602 hours on Friday 7 July, 52 minutes behind the timetable.

Mid evening on Friday 7 July, heavy fog - perhaps unexpected in its severity as many aircraft have been 'caught' - at BNE sees EK435 (A380 A6-EEH, the 1710 hours AKL - BNE that did not take off until 2011 hours) diverting to SYD with a likely arrival in the mainland harbour city at around 2155 hours. This flight should normally arrive at 1910 hours in BNE.

While we may see some 'dispensations' granted to break the SYD curfew tonight, it is also possible that crew duty limitations or other factors may see the flight not departing SYD until tomorrow morning. It is extremely busy in SYD with many flights in the queue for landing, as EK435 is far from the only flight to divert to SYD.

UPDATE: EK435 as at 2201 on 7 July looked to be diverting down to MEL, not SYD. This may be because SYD is putting the 'full house' sign up with all those diverted aircraft endeavouring to land. MEL arrival should be at around 2305 hours.

Referring to the previous post, EK435 that diverted from AKL to MEL (instead of its usual BNE) on Friday 7 July due to fog in BNE is expected to depart from MEL at 1700 hours on Saturday 8 July (after crew and hopefully passengers have rested) and should arrive in BNE at 1925 hours.

This is the third diversion for A380 A6-EEP in as many days as it has (in order) diverted to military airport UTP in Thailand on EK418 from DXB to BKK, then returned to BKK when operating the onward leg to SYD and now had the EK435 diversion:

These diversions or returing to the originating airport are expensive for airlines (though necessary) and a huge time impost for passengers (though better to arrive late than not arrive at all.)

EK433 today saw a bit of a delay in BNE, finally departing at 07:05am - saw her with my own eyes as I walked down to catch my EK434 flight in the terminal.

EK434 is also delayed 30+ mins departing BNE, after arriving 30 mins late from an hour delay in departing DXB.

Later on 10 July, the AKL - SYD EK419 (A6-EEQ) managed to be pointing skywards at 1528, only 13 minutes after timetabled departure but arrival has been delayed until 1720 hours, 35 minutes tardy.
