Sky News just reported an Emirates a/c has been stopped at JFK due to someone being onboard on the no-fly list.

I know there was a report about the Times Square would-be car bomber nearly escaped on a flight on the weekend, so not sure what the few reports I’ve just heard on the news are about. Could be breaking news, could be late news.

Edit: In fact news is now coming out… slowly. Thank god for Twitter and updates from it.

Turns out it was a similar name.

Anyone think all Emirates flights are going to be under a higher degree of scrutiny these days ;)

Those crazy people with middle eastern sounding names... I'm sure no one with western sounding names like Luke, could ever be involved in say a bombing...

PS I am being sarcastic... Look up the name Luke Helder...

The idea that the only way they really identify someone on a no fly list is by name only seems very strange, and very prone to error. Especially considering that for a terrorist group, purchasing a stolen identy, complete with passport, would not be a big problem.

What like yousef islam

Of course, it is all well and good to make fun of things like this, but it is sad and it highlights just how ridiculous the USA can be about somethings. I mean come on Yousef sang about a peacetrain. But then he did suffer paranoid delusions as well (being followed by a moon shadow?)
