In this day and age I've always taken domestic partner as the same as legally married (assuming that they've been together for more than a month or two )

Wondering about 'proof'. My cousin from the UK visited and transferred his 6K QF points gained in Aus. Not sure how I'd prove he is my cousin. Would a sat dec do? I have a photo of us when we were 5 and 8.

Looking at this from a distance, it does look as though you redacted 6 names from that email (which is a lot and probably why you're being asked to explain), and that you're obviously fairly fired up about this, but both Virgin and Qantas are very clear about family transfers and it sounds to me like you're on a collision course here if you're going to put the blame on QF.

I would not take a fighting stance on this one. I don't think what you suggest about points transfer with other airlines is true (there's a general industry wide avoidance of allowing points to become a general currency, it does not help the airlines in any way) and you'll lose any empathy from the airline if you're blasting them for you not following the rules.

i didn't know that as they opened widely the people to share points with. so i thought they didn't care about that. If you buy points on American Airline they don't care what you do with points, and cousins in US share points with friends without any problems.

On the contrary there has been some advice provided and regardless of whether you thought it was ok because they didn’t care, you did do the wrong thing. I note you identify as Platinum. One would have assumed you have a reasonable understanding of the program. I may be mistaken.

Edit - the cousins who share points with friends in the US may just been have not been caught yet.

If you think i know all the details about points transfer on QFF yes you are wrong. I travel, i am not a specialist of QFF. i have heard things about some programs as i am a member of a lot but don't really know the policies of all

I guess first up what you hear about other airlines is just that, hearsay and not going to do anything for your account with QF.

As your account is locked you will have to call QF and ask them what you can do. The sister in law should be straight forward.

Buying points except via QF is as you know now against the rules, suggest if they delete those based on you not reading the terms, a hands up mea culpa, everything else is in order and please reopen the account.

Or, join another program and move on.

The entire passage is my advice to you not to fire up at QFF in order to limit the damage to yourself now that you are aware that you are in breach of the T&Cs. There are potentially ways to remedy this if you are sincere but not if you burn that bridge from the first email.

I think you can work out from he advice given that there isn't much you can do. The buying points has likely bought your quest for points undone.

The OP should just take responsibility for their actions and confess to the fraudulent transactions.

That should hopefully result in only the loss of the purchased points and a good (but expensive) lesson for the future.

You could go ahead and sign a stat dec, adding to additional documentation of your relationship (including transfers between your and their accounts) that are not very well advised for someone with a mistress...

I would think most who choose to take on that sort of hobby would be more discreet than that.

I'd guess people who can do that are
likely above chasing points in this fashion.

But I also doubt QF would question smaller numbers of points moving between a regular 3 people and being used to redeem tickets for said 3 people.

AA (and other US airlines) also conduct inspections of transactions. Most programs prohibit the sale or bartering of points, and a large points transfer, or even a ticket purchase for someone not related can trigger an investigation. There may be a presumption that people don't simply 'give away' points - they usually get something in return. And that's where the 'barter' clause comes in.

There are reports of similar account closures with US-based airlines.

how long ago did you purchase the points? (was it recent?) And have you ever transferred points to someone else?

There is scuttlebut on OzBargain that a well known points dealer, Tuvz, is being investigated by Qantas for violating Qantas rules. If true, the thousands of purchases he made over several years and the transactions of those people, could implicate tens of thousands if Qantas so choses to run the ruler over the entire net. I hope for your sake OP that you're not one of them.
