I'm wondering whether all the half points upgrades that I'm looking to take advantage of will be considered as 'Eligible Sectors' for Velocity?

Can anyone confirm if they have had upgrades from Flexi to Business using points count as sectors on their accounts?

I think it's pretty cut and dry as per the T&C's, but wanted to check:

Eligible Sector means a flight journey from an origin to a destination:
(a) that has been flown;
(b) that has been purchased using cash or credit;
(c) that has not been purchased in whole or in part using Points; and
(d) where Virgin Australia is the marketing carrier (This means that the flight number starts with a DJ or VA prefix).

I could be wrong, but my impression is that you paid for a full fare (flexi) with cash only, which is your eligible sector, and what SCs and Velocity points will be earned from.
The upgrade with points is on top and has no earn, i.e. you earn for flexi (full fare economy) and not J.

I haven't had first hand experience but that's what I've gathered from others remarks on this forum. Hope it helps

Yes it is counted as eligible flexi fare sector - i.e. you get the status credits and points of the original flexi.

You earn points on the underlying fully purchased with cash flex fare. Upgrading does not change that situation. I can see no reason why this would change for eligible sector count purposes, you do buy a flex fare with cash money. The conditions that you quote would more likely apply to points plus pay award purchases.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking and why I posted this after checking the T&C's regarding 'Eligible Sectors'.

I guess all I need is someone that has upgraded from Flexi using points, to confirm if they've had that booking registered on their account as an ES.
