Hi,

I am a bit confused about eligible sectors. We have been family pooling to my husband's account and he re-qualified for silver months ago.

We have flown to Fiji and he now has 540 status credits but his eligible sectors remain at 4. Above that it says "sectors flown - 12".

It's showing -40 status credits to qualify for gold.

We flew with VA on a VA flight number and paid for the tickets.

Can anyone explain this to me?

I am pretty sure when he was upgraded to silver it all happened on the same day of status credits being credited.

Review date for Silver is July 11th 2016. He has flown 4 flights with VA that have been paid for with VA flight numbers since then.

Is there a delay in upgrading in people's experience or has something gone wrong?

Thank you!

Not 100% sure but believe that although the SC's & points credit in a family pooling situation, the eligible sectors don't. The person who is being credited in a family pooling still has to fly the eligible number of sectors personally to qualify for the next level. In effect he will need to fly 4 sectors with VA (on VA operated aircraft) to qualify for SG and 8 sectors to qualify for WP.

Sorry, also just saw that he has 540 SC's so given he has 4 eligible sectors under his belt, he should be SG by now. Definitely a call to VA required to see what's happening.

When your SC's and sectors meet the minimum threshold for the next status level, it activates a status review in which the new status and its benefits should be seen within 24-48 hours.

It sounds like you met the status requirements but for whatever reason it didn't activate a status review. -40 SC's is an indicator to me that some sort of glitch has occurred, you should call them..

It has taken a couple of days for Status to catch up with the SC & ES count for me in the past

yep OP, when did the points get added. it usually takes around 3 days for me for the status to move up from when i hit the eligible sp/sectors

Certainly does seem like a glitch in the system.

Eligible sectors are any ticket with a VA number, does not need to be VA aircraft. VA flight on SQ metal for example will still count as eligible sectors. But eligible sectors aren't part of family pooling.

They were added last night or this morning. I'll keep an eye out for any changes on the website. Thank you

Thanks everyone for your answers. We don't have international roaming switched on here so not calling them. I sent them an online enquiry this morning. Naturally your answers were a lot faster.

It doesn't make a huge difference whether he's gold or sliver on the flight home as there's no lounge access etc here anyway but it would be easier for future record keeping of sectors to be correct before get on another plane to come home. And it's pouring with rain here so there's not much else to do!

Our SC went to -40 (540), but we understood that to mean we were 40 points over the threshold, we just needed Velocity to review before moving us up to SG. The review was fairly swift, but not necessarily on the same day points were awarded. You will probably hear from them soon and adjustments will be made. Hope the rain dries up!

After contacting Velocity via their website it has been fixed. My husband received an email this afternoon saying they'd looked at it and yes he should be gold.

Thanks for your answers to my questions again. I am impressed with how quickly VA addressed the enquiry.

They didn't answer the question about whether there are any system issues but I've noticed in the past that the number of eligible sectors never changes on the account login page. When he went to silver it happened at the same time as the points and SC were awarded.

Thanks for your help.
We are sitting in the middle of two tropical depressions in Fiji and it is windy and raining but not cold. And the pool area at this resort is sheltered from the wind. And it's always better to have somebody else cook, clean and entertain the kids! We are fine. I hope the people of Fiji are OK. There is some serious flooding going on already and there are a couple more days of this at least.
