Emirates president Tim Clark appears to have revealed his disappointment with alliance partner Qantas’ dedication to the partnership a year after the historic launch.
Clark told London newspaper The Telegraph Qantas boss Alan Joyce had been forced to focus on his airline’s dire financial situation in the past year to the detriment of the Emirates partnership, which had been a lower priority.

Let me translate.

" That bloody little Irish $#@*& ! I was expecting him to just roll over and send up the white flag to us by now! How dare he actually TRY to get his airline out of the s***t by himself, and not just roll over?

Oh, and have a nice day."

I recall the alliance was given approval for 5 years with an additional 5 if they want them after the first 5. Perhaps now's a good time to consider what happens down the line when the 5 years are up. I'd hope it's not too late to apologise to CX! Perhaps BA/AY/MH/QR too.

As for this alliance though, the timing of flights appears to be a big issue for Qantas through Dubai, creating low loads that aren't helping. Add to that, I wonder what influence EK have over QF regarding PE and if PE will in fact come to the A330's.

Dragging this offtopic now, I'd like to see the dual-brand strategy move to JQi with Y/J and QFi with Y/PE/F. That way there's a clear difference between LCC and full service. Whether F ends up being a US F-style and J ends up being PE isn't the point :p

Well this sure aint going to help LOL

Dear Ansett

We're writing regarding your upcoming trip on 14 April 2014. If it's more convenient for you, we would like to offer you the option to change your ticket to travel on a Qantas operated aircraft to/from London.

It means you would travel on the same Qantas flight for all sectors of your journey between Australia, Dubai and London, operated by the same Qantas A380 aircraft. Your baggage will be checked all the way through.

This change is available at no extra cost.

If you'd like to take up this offer, please call our contact centres at least 24 hours prior to your departure on 1300 799 798 within Australia, 08457 747 767 within UK or +44 208 600 4333 in Ireland/Continental Europe. Otherwise your ticket will remain unchanged and we look forward to flying you to London Heathrow on 14 April 2014.

Kind Regards,
The Qantas Team

Hopefully it will be good riddance to Emirates and Tim Clark. Then perhaps Qantas can get on with running an airline that people want to fly on again, through cities and with partners that make sense. (to me at least ;) ) As always YMMV

So has EK not succeeded in stealing all of QF's elites and Tim Clark isn't happy about that?

Or is it that they have converted many (formerly) loyal QF flyers and QF are trying to fight back?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Another thing that doesn't help the alliance is the lack of PE on EK. I've given up counting the number of times I've heard about ADL people booking with CX because they can't fly QFi at all ex ADL, they can't book PE on EK and the price differential between Y and J on EK makes J look really expensive so they're not prepared to pay for J.

With the retirement of the 744s that will also be a problem for QF moving forward.

My guess is, Qantas give their partners as much respect as they do their customers.

So Emirates isn't getting everything their way.

It would be nice to see Qantas go back to Europe via Asia instead of the desert.

“I’m not saying for a moment that Alan has let our relationship between the two companies and the endgame ... slip, it’s just that he has got quite a tough situation on his hands.”

I'm disappointed with the EK alliance - all travel used to be QF/BA via london, but with changing departure and arrival times, it is now more convenient to fly with others. Having a 10 hour layover in Dubai, or an overnight in SYD/MEL/BNE before connecting domestically just isn't worth it. Bring back Singapore!

So when it did finally enter into a partnership, did Clark back the wrong horse? “No,

I don’t think we backed the wrong horse,” he defends. “The partnership is doing what we thought it would do.

The rest is just spin and dribble.
