EK405 - A380 MEL-SIN / New or Old A380?

Just tell me how good it is and how I'm going to be a happy and drunk human being! Enjoy.

My partner and I did A380 F from AKL-MEL as an 'experience' treat to ourselves last month. It was the best flight I've ever taken by a mile, the service was awesome and we both left the plane very drunk and very happy. We both drank at least a bottle of Dom each... excess, complete overindulgence, but super fun. The bar down the back was a party, and they will bring down Dom for F passengers when they see you walk down. Have fun, enjoy it!

Just did this....had an absolute great time. Essentially stay awake the whole first leg, light dinner in the F lounge, caviar and mezze on board after takeoff with the Dom '05. Watch a movie. Head back to the bar. Knock back a few drinks and chat with whomever is there. Head back to seat. Another movie. Take a shower. Change in time for landing.

Solid sleep for the entirety of the next leg. Wake up an hour before landing for a shower, quick coffee and ready to head off on whatever adventures you've got planned while in Dubai.

A belated thanks @bismarck I’m only 9 days out from catching EK405 can’t wait. Driver pickup, MEL QF F Lounge, great leaving time (1845), 2 x A380 showers, SIN EK Lounge, and 10 hotel stay on EK dime and then off to Kenya for so safari fun on B777 F service.

Can’t wait for those showers!!!!

Does anyone know if A6-EDL is the newer configuration in F (larger, better quality IFE screens etc) or the older one?

DXB-SIN-MEL Dep: 1:00am- Dep: 1:55pm- Arr: 12:20am

Then onto EK409, with a different A380 backtracking to SIN.

Edit: Appears UAE have updated their BNE flight too.

Seems to take effect for Northern Winter timetable, from 28 Oct onwards. Brilliant, this will be my go to flight. Way better than the redeye flights.

Flew EK405 Mel-Sin Sunday 23rd Dec A380 Totally full and Business was mostly upgrades. I was in First and was not the new version. EK404 Sin-Mel A380 Wednesday 26th Dec with a total of 90 passengers. 2 in First 18 or so in Business and the rest in economy. Probably a Boxing Day thing regarding the load.

How do you know that business was mostly upgrades?

The crew member working in First mentioned it to the couple sitting across from me. I think they knew them as they seemed very friendly.
