EK vs QF A380 F comparison

That is either quite scathing of QF, or that EK is in another realm.

EK F is just different in that the crew treat it like your own Hotel room. There's a door to your suite and a do not disturb sign if you wish to turn it on. Private mini bar & chocolate/snack bar inside your suite too. You could go the entire flight without seeing another passenger even if F was full. The space was clearly designed from the ground up to be like a hotel and less like a seat.

QF F is like a really nice seat in a semi-private space, like a super-enhanced business class seat.

Both are nice, but if you had to choose one or the other I'd be going on the plane that had internet and mobile phone access....!

This is what "sleeping together" should be like (on SQ Suites) !

Granted, no shower - even for one pax.

Apologies if someone thinks it is off topic (EK vs QF)

FWIW, that's what yours truly & his +1 will have in the not too distant future.

EK wins hands down. There really is no competition.
Especially if you are travelling with someone, you can sit, eat, drink, sleep and shower together.

I would compare EK J to QF F.

Not a huge fan of QF, but that comparison is a bit harsh. I put EK J just ahead of QF J by the skin of its teeth: I prefer Qantas' seat, but despise their IEFs (way too clunky and slow). I also prefer QF food, but EK has better wine. Service in both is pretty good. I have not flown F in any of them , so cannot compare, but I doubt very much QF's F and J products being so much alike that EK J compares with QF J.

Have flown both and would say EK F is superior in every way. As long as you get past the bling. The only area QF has the upper hand would be wine and champagne. Seat comfort, food, service and amenities would have to go to EK.

If you are traveling with a friend, EK is best as you can sit together.

And from anecdotal evidence, QF codeshare on EK metal allows access to Galleries F too :)

Enjoy whichever you choose as you can't really complain on either product. I just feel EK is better.

Having just done a leg in F on both EK and QF, I have to say I was disappointed with EK. Despite a 6 hour delay in Sydney (QF1 on 10 Aug), and having a glass of champagne tipped on me (it was Tattinger!) I thought the QF seat seemed roomier, and with the sheepskin mattress, was a dream to sleep on. The food was better quality, although dine on demand would be a positive improvement for QF. The main downsides to QF is the lack of shower, and the lack of doors on the suites. For me though, the biggest difference was the cabin crew. The three serving F on my flight could not do more for me, were happy to have a chat and interact with passengers, rather than the cold, impersonal yet professional service of the EK crew. There is a chance if was just and ordinary flight on EK, but I have both legs on EK coming back, so will be able to get a much better picture of the EK product.
Of course First is First, and both products are still very good, and it could be worse, I could be in Y!

We thought the QF seat seemed roomier, and with the sheepskin mattress, was a dream to sleep on. The food was better quality,we did have dine on demand (so not sure why that was not on there flight we were also on QF1). In QF F there is the ability to have a traveling companion dine with you as there is a seat with belt were the foot rest is so it makes it nice for traveling together, but sitting apart as you do in F on QF.
For us though, the biggest difference was the cabin crew. The three serving F on our QF flight could not do more for us, were happy to have a chat and interact with the passengers, rather than the cold, impersonal yet professional service of the EK crew, who we rarely saw unless we called them.

On our EK flight the shower wasn't working, was going to try it for the novelty not really for any need but even after they reset it a few times it didn't work, so that cancelled out that difference. The doors on the EK suites we found made it seem more cramped as it was a day time flight so we were staying awake. The drinks in the EK seat cabinet are a bit useless as they are warm, there is no cooling in it. And personally we found all the laminated wood and gold a bit over the top for our tastes.

I thank every one for their views- keep them coming. From the sound of it, an EK hard and QF soft product combination would be perfect.

I will be transitting LHR (for as long as I can convince my friend is reasonable)! so am looking forward to Galleries F. I ruled out BA F so will miss out on the CCR (this time).

Each to his/her own, I guess

Totally agree with your observations

Was wondering about that - thanks for the heads up. I guess asking for a bucket of ice and plonking the little bottles in it might defeat the purpose of being self serve ...

Just got back from QF to LHR and EK ( codeshare ) back. My opinions

QF- more comfortable bed. Degustation menu very good. Cafe breakfast sucked. A la carte nowhere near the range EK offers but quality I guess. Seat was weird at first but got to like it although you can't look out the windows without getting up. FAs efficient and friendly. CSM knew I'd just made gold which was nice. QF PJ' s better. The J bar pretty poor.

EK - very extensive anytime menu. IFE & screen better. Nice spacious cabin as no overhead lockers. Stars on the roof ! Shower was fun just to fill in time. Too much bling overall for my taste. Gave you lots & lots of stuff and a big shopping sized bag to put it all in. Staff more efficient but not chatty. Agree with previous posters the self serve drinks is pretty useless when a cold drink is a button press away. The J bar was excellent.

I'd give it to QF by a few hairs if you can't mix it up. The bed tips them over the line for mine.

Considering DXB-MEL is 14 hours, the quality of the bed becomes a fairly big consideration. Thanks for the recent comparison.

I just booked for Mrs Pablo and myself to fly Auckland - SYD on EF F - can't wait to try it out. For the difference in points it was worth it - and hoping there is a delay in landing so we get a few more minutes to enjoy it.
