EK upgrade "Love" on QF / EK coded flights - success rate?

Clearly NZ - Aus is not a route that is upgraded. Not enough seats sold.

Except for those 2 times I got upgraded SYD-AKL/AKL-SYD on EK this month.... ;) Y was oversold in both cases, and the push forwards from there was enough to fill J and bump us from J to F. School holidays are probably the exception where it comes to increased 'op-up-ortunities'... The start of school holidays was also the only time I ever got an op-up on QF, that time flying BNE-SIN.

Cheers,
Matt.

It's been mentioned many times but yes EK are not regularly filling the 3 x A380's a day trans tasman so opups are rare on those routes compared to the rest of the network. I agree that school holidays are the exception, or the occasional large sporting event.

Yes, though I didn't have such luck when flying over and back for the 2014 Bledisloe Cup match at Eden Park <shudders> ... Full in all classes for some time out... Us silly Aussies thought we finally had a chance! :D

The day we came back from AKL the flight was full...and that meant all cabins. No room to be bumped to F unfortunately.

School holidays possibly excepted.....

Why do you think P1 was involved? Reckon its just EK's approach to Qantas premium pax.

You are of course correct. However, the fact I thanked them does not imply that I believed they were involved. Merely that they are the point of contact with the airline who provided me with the service.

Is that more precise for you?

It makes no sense. The P1 team had nought-zero-no effect on an ek upgrade

Not really. This is thread about EK upgrades. The P1 had nothing to do with that. And they wont see the love when its stuck in this thread anyway.

You can always do what I did and thank Emirates directly through their website.

EK doesn't even "know" about P1 status - we all just look like QF WP to them.

anyway very very nice. I've had zero op up love as a P1(WP :D ) from EK, but that's ok - I can quite rightly thank the P1 team for.. nothing :D

I'm on an EK flight tomorrow (QF code) that is zeroed out in Y but has J and F availability. On the very slim chance I might get an op-up, do you think it matters whether you OLCI or not?

IME, it hasn't made much of a difference. Although I generally check-in in person rather early. Although some swear by checking-in as late as possible.

We checkin early. Its just what we do. I don't think that theory is true. We have been upgraded on all but one of six Emirates flights code share with Qantas.

We also do OLCI when we can.

I've spoken to an EK checkin agent in MEL recently and I was informed that recently 19 Pax received a complimentary op-up on one particular flight alone on MEL > AKL.

School holidays? Overbooking will change things. When I did the sale F fare last year the F cabin was sparse. MrP did it in early December and just 2 pax.
