EK reduces PER capacity

Emirates will cut the number of seats available on the Perth-Dubai route from October, three months after rival Etihad Airways launches daily flights from Perth to Abu Dhabi.
Emirates said it would temporarily downsize one of its three daily flights from Perth, EK425/424, from a Boeing 777-300ER to a smaller 777-200LR between October and March due to the need to redeploy the larger aircraft on its expanding global network.
The Emirates 777-200LR offers the same number of first-class and business-class seats as its larger cousin but nearly 100 fewer economy-class seats, depending on the configuration.
Emirates had once planned to upsize one of its daily flights to Perth to an A380.
The West Australian reported in November that A380 services form Dubai to Perth would be launched on March 1, but that did not occur.

In all fairness markis10, shouldn't you state somewhere in there at the end that PER is (still!) not A380 ready?

I was under the impression from the press here that there were ongoing, rolling, delays in getting the terminal set up; that being the case, it's fair to say EK may well have had a gutfull of deadlines being missed, and will commit A380's to PER once PER is A380 capable.

In all fairness, I didnt state a word of the original post, when i do I put the article in quote brackets, post 1 is purely an abridged version of the link.

If I was to state something, it would be that I am not sure why an A380 is relevant if you cannot fill a 77W.
 
Pretty pointless putting an A380 on the route until Perth is ready for it, hopefully once the airport gets its friggin act together we will see one from EK (certainly hell will freeze over before we see one from QF)...

And I thought I heard a while ago that some of the flights to Perth were going to be disrupted for a while because of work on runways or something at DXB rather than it being a permanent thing???

On recent booking experience for august europe to syd return, qantas was actually the cheapest. All selling emirates product, all going via perth. Obviously some capacity on the route!
 
I can back up bryanjones. Recently booking the family to Europe for the Easter holidays next year we could book 3 seats QF Classic Awards Seats from SYD via PER to DXB in J. Good luck trying to go direct to DXB out of SYD or MEL on QF....
 
Flying through DXB in September I thought I read somewhere that EK was adding an extended (?) 777 for the PER route. I'm flying J with 46 seats that I think is the current configuration. 'Tis a pity that PER is so slow in giving passengers the 380 experience but again some say that WA really means "wait awhile"
