EK: New SYD-DXB Options

Just reading article from ABT above, I just noticed that the new EK flight to SYD will arrive at 2230. I thought SYD curfew prevent planes to take off or arrive past 10pm each day?!

I also noticed the 0600 departure from SYD, that's brutal, as you would need to get to airport at 0400, which means for me, if I take this flight I would need to leave house at 0300 (unless you are flying F or C on connecting flights)!!!

The curfew prevents aircraft from taking off or landing between the hours of 11pm and 6am. A limited number of scheduled and approved take-offs and landings are permitted respectively in the "shoulder periods" of 11pm to midnight and 5am to 6am, by Section 12 of the Act.

Well I commend EK for pushing through this long overdue 3rd daily flight to/from SYD. However it is such a shame that the quaint old rules of 1950s Sydney Airport prevent non-Sydney residents from using this flight in either direction.

Personally, I wish they had given the flight to ADL.
