Mrs Lime & self doing 4 hops to from Europe in J on EK, not flown with them before, we selected seats in centre about half way in cabin, read conflicting reports about the service, what have others found?.

I found the service in J on EK to be quite good, fairly similar to a good QF flight.

Strangely, I found the service in EK F to be worse, mainly because it appears the F attendants have been told to not "bother" the pax by asking them if they want things. In F, they seem to depend on you ringing the bell. In J, it's the usual thing of the F/As walking the aisles and asking if you want things, or you flagging them down.

The entertainment system on EK is superb, and the meals very nice. If you're on the A380, then there's also the bar down the back of J. And you will certainly enjoy the DXB lounge.

If travelling on a 77W, I recommend selecting the two seats that are together rather than 2 of the 3 that are in the middle. (config is 2-3-2, which sucks). If on the A380, take the seats that are together again.

My experience with service is similar to JohnPhelan, I have found it better in J than in F. Food on EK is great!

Thanks guys, both long haul EK flights are on the 380 and we are sitting in middle together. Had enough points for F but we like each others company!.

The middle seats in the F cabin are good for sitting together too. :) The J seat on the A380 I find to be quite narrow

If you enjoy movies, great big screen. Also the bar lounge at the back is sensational . As far as sitting next to the missus , its a bit like a car with a console between you .

You will enjoy it for sure, done it many times, mrs eric & I always take a window seat each but never a window and aisle as the aisle has about a 6 inch shorter pitch. I have a J flight next week so if there is anything you would like me to look at or check on just let me know

Done Q in J many, many times but with EK just find it strange they are from non drinking country yet have a bar on board :).

Note seats narrow, I'm a bit beamy but as I've done HNL in Y and HKG too can't see a problem.

Service can be hit and miss outside of meal service times, which is a good reason to go to the bar!

Agree the seats are narrow, although I found the 777 to be more so than the 380.

Does the bar get crowded?, if so Mrs Lime might have to stay in her seat :D.

I flew B777 BKK to SYD Tuesday and one of the toilets didn't have tap water. I expected JW Black Label but FA took drinks order then came back to say they could offer 18yo CR. Staff were very courteous though. I also expected flat bed but it wasn't so. I was told B777 bed was wider than that on A380.

MS (Egypt Air) is dry onboard and their own lounges

I must admit this thought has also crossed my mind at times.

Strange that they provide for other cultural traits beyond their own? When your a global airline trying to make your mark I think it makes sense. I suspect most of the crew are not of the Muslim faith so there is hardly an issue.

90% of my EK flights, one of the crew do recite this after the doors are closed. It also features on the screens of QR (can't remember with EY) before take off.

Praise be to Allah who made this (the means of transport) subservient to us, and we (by ourselves) could never have accomplished it.

Thanks for the translation! I'm sure I've heard it before, but I wouldn't be able to tell;)
