Flew with partner and infant BNE-AKL with EK last Friday 835 EK434 and all I can say is very impressed.

Checked in at Premium counter, greeted by lovely lady who was very accomodating and made the experience nice to begin with. Its amazing how a nice check-in can cheer you up?

We then proceeded down to gate 74, quite a walk when carrying an infant.

Arriving at the Emirates Lounge we were greeted very nicely and escorted to the seated area. We plonked down and immediately two wait staff appeared offering refreshments. Unfortunately the cappuccino machine was OOS so we opted for some fresh guava juice. My partner grabbed some eggs benedict and I had a cold plate of meats and cheese.

Then we were called for boarding and we slipped seemlessly onto the top deck and into seats 43A/B. We were greeted by the cabin manager and they explained the bassinet would be put in place once airbourne with seatbelt sign out. The cabin of the A380 was very well designed and there was an infant chage toilet directly in front of row 43 A/B/C

Once in the air we put the infant into the bassinet and he maanged to sleep for 2 hours which was a blessing. One of the hostess' took a liking to him and took a pic for his first flight and wrote a lovely note.

We then started our descent into AKL and all went really well with bubs not being effected at all, very smooth flying and nice landing.

4.5 out of 5 for all aspects of the journey with the only complaint no decent coffee at the lounge ;)

Glad it went well!

Travelling with little ones is great, as long as you're prepped!

Maybe you should get the young lad a logbook if he's going to flying a bit! :)

The Middle Eastern airlines seem to have kids down pat, the nanny on board EY is pretty impressive, doing mid flight face painting!

.... Following flights on Fiji airways (air pacific) have me worried though!

I would imagine FJ will be equal or better in respect flying with children. I cannot think of an airline that does not go that extra distance to make folks travelling as a family more comfortable.

Slightly off topic (apologies to OP!)

But cheers and i hope so!. Ive flown FJ previously (Air pacific) on the old 747 service through to LAX and wasn't particularly impressed.... even for Fiji time.

So far the experience has been less than positive, without going into detail FJ are unable to even tell me what our luggage weight limits are. Flights were booked via QFF and booking states 2 pieces each adult, but no weights. FJ's website states each adult is permitted 1 x 23kg checked luggage. I called FJ and queried what allowances applied to my booking. First agent stated 23kg over both pieces. 2nd agent asked me to contact Qantas to ask them as all they can see is 2 x luggage pieces.

I lodged a request to Qantas a couple of months ago (received a reference) and have still yet to hear the result.

So hopefully you can understand my nervousness lol.

Glad you enjoyed EK to NZ. Being an ex NZer I use EK for all my trips back and forth. Already got 4 BNE-AKL and 1 SYD-CHC booked and paid for later this year.
EK's 380 to AKL and 777 to CHC in J or QF's 737 in J, gosh it's hard to decide
