MA doesn't attract the bonus either.NM said:I originally thought it strange that when JL joined OneWorld that AA retained them as not earning status bonus while all other OneWorld airlines did earn status bonus. So now its going to be both JL and BA, so I wonder if any others will follow?
Or QF (metal).Dave Noble said:Or you could fly CX
Thanks for the remindervt01 said:There I was planning my DONE4 and checking out flights and AA earning on the AA website when I came across the changes to earning on BA flights .
Ahhhhh - This type of restriction was one of the reasons I left QFF and joined AA!
So I searched AFF and of course found a thread on it.. So I thought I'd resurrect this thread rather than start a new one...
Tere is no technical reason QF cannot book the AA codeshares for you. I have had QF book an AA codeshare on a CX flight before. But as several people have found, QF are not always the most helpful or knowledgeable when it comes to knowing, understanding and interpreting fare rules. So be ready to need to push them hard to get it done. It would probably be more difficult if trying to get an AA codeshare on a QF flight when issuing with Qantas, even though the fares permit it.vt01 said:My ticket will be issued by QF. Will I be able to book the AA codeshares? If not, would getting my ticket reissued in the US by AA then allow me to change flights to the AA codeshares?
Thanks NM. The other difficulty is I am booking through AMEX and we use email. The people we email are in India and have little or no knowledge of DONE4. They queried my backtracking and passing through the same point and also the 4 segments when I return to Aus. So I gave them the address of the oneworld itinerary planner so they could at least check out the majority of my trip. Although the planner doesn't handle the final 4 segments in Aus.NM said:Thanks for the reminder

Bummer.. That was one of the segments on my last DONE4. Lets hope this isn't the beginning of the end of oneworld as we know it - for point earning. I doubt they would break up the alliance but as was suggested earlier they may only deliver the extra bonus points when travelling on your own FF programme airline.Evan said:Its is not good for me, i do a lot of BA flights. I guess i will just look for alternatives where they exist but some i fly like LHR-PVG there is no code shares.
I also wonder if there will be any changes to other parts of the relationships, eg QP access for QP members who are now OW saphire/emerald.
I guess we just wait and see.
This only applies to AAdvantage. AA members will no longer earn the status bonus (50% for Gold, 100% for Plat and Exec Plat). AA does not have status credits.rocket said:Maybe this is a dumb question - does this effect the earning of status credits and also miles, or just miles?
