Previously booked a Y seat on Jetstar 787 flight and paid the $7 to select a seat (row 31).

Now when I check my booking it offers the option to pay $25 for seats further up front (ie Rows 24-28). Does anyone know the seat pitch difference that I would gain by paying the extra fee?

Also, is there any likelihood of being offered a Star Class upgrade at check-in for a reduced rate?

Thanks for any assistance.

Seat pitch in the up-front seats is the same as the seats further down the back (poor), except row 10 which is a bulkhead. Row 10 has a little bit of extra legroom and there is nobody in front of you. Well worth it for $25. I sat there recently on HNL-BNE and would recommend. The small mini-cabin at the front of the Y cabin is also nicer than ~row 30 IMHO.

If you really want an extra legroom seat though, the exit rows may be worth it for $45.

Re. upgrades, Jetstar will not let you pay for an upgrade at check-in. Your best bet (if there are still seats) would be to go to "manage booking" and see if an upgrade is offered online exactly 14 days (to the minute) before the flight departs.
