I'm flying MEL-Alice Springs return direct on QF796 and QF797 in April. My QFF year expires on 30 April. One way I am ticketed in N and the other in E. What will the SC earn be? Assuming its Discount Economy both ways it nets 30SCs, which leaves me 10 short of cracking SG. But I read somewhere else that domestic N might earn more? Can anyone confirm?

On second thought, I might be confusing this with domestic V.

It will only earn discount Y SCs unfortunately.
Could you change your return routing to go via SYD?

From the first page booking classes E and N are both in the Red eDeal column. Then from the second page you'll see that red edeals have a "Discount Economy" status credit earn rate. So you'll earn 15 one way, 30 return. As opusman pointed out Sydney to Alice Springs is just a little bit further and will earn you 20 SC one way, 40 return.

Either re-route to go by syd, or book an edeal Mel-syd. I'd be going for SG if you are that close.
