Has anyone tried to earn UA miles on a TK flight operated by MH? We've got a business class itinerary from Jakarta to London and on way back managed to get into Sydney via KUL. The last sector KL to Sydney is operated by Malaysia (booked as TK flight). Not sure if UA will credit that one as not operated by a Star airline - is that correct?

Star alliance is almost always based on operating carrier, so the answer is almost certainly no. Some exceptions where other Star alliance carriers aren’t involved (i.e. where you accrue to the marketing carriers own program, not sure if Miles and Smiles allows this though.).

Yep thought so. I've joined us both up to Smiles... will do a claim for that final sector if UA doesn't award points.

Don't love our friends at Star much - dropped them when Ansett disappeared with all my points from Lauda.
