I'm comparing some trips with YUPPs on AA and BIZ with Delta.

Does anyone know if you take the scenic route with Delta do you earn SCs for each segment or do they just calculate the SC on the distance traveled for a direct flight?

On the Velocity website it has this:

Terms and Conditions
* When you purchase a single domestic or international short haul fare with Virgin Australia and there is a via point which does not involve a stopover, the Status Credits are awarded on the mileage from origin to destination, e.g. ABX-BNE via SYD will receive the Status Credits for the distance and fare type flown based on ABX-BNE.
**Please refer to the relevant fare class to determine the Status Credits earn as this eligibility will vary dependant on whether the flight is Trans-Tasman, Long Haul or Domestic travel with Air New Zealand. Please also note that Status Credits cannot be earned on Pacific Island flights with Air New Zealand.

EY certainly earns SC's on a sector by sector basis.

Ha, EY certainly SHOULD earn by sector, but given the nonsense they've posted on mine and my wife's account over the last few weeks, I'm not so sure if they know what their rules are!

They've totally overcredited her SCs, sending her over the gold threshold when she should be about 100 short, but more importantly (cos 85% or her travel is with me), they've short changed us about 15k points, and that's without considering if I should get extra points for the paid upgrade I did...

Long email explaining the error of thier ways is being composed... I'm sure it will be fixed but I need the points asap as I want to make a big reward seat booking son...

Sorry OP - totally off topic - rant over!

Yes, I recently flew Flint-Detroit-Norfolk on Delta while in the US and I received status credits for each flight.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanxs for the confirmation.

It nearly seems like virgin are giving us an incentive not to fly them.

My delima now is that looking on seat guru the first / business seats on delta are not nearly as good as what I'd get on AA - i can get a first class sleeper for the SFO NYC and NYC LAX portions of my trip for an extra $3

But if I go with Delta then I hit silver pretty quick and I'm flying SQ from the States to Japan and Kuala Lumpur, so I get plenty of bonus miles on the way home.

If only QF silver gave free baggage allowance on JQ like DJ does I'd be leaner more towards staying with QF.

Decisions decisions.
