This is a question that has probably been answered before, but having trouble getting my head around it.
I want to fly BNE-SYD-NRT on JAL on 2 March and return on 9 or 10 March. There's a business class (I) fare that I think earns 0.7pts/mile. It appears that this is the same as the premium economy pts earning rate. I'm really more interested in the SC as I think the leg there will tip me over into QF gold. Do I get any bonus points for status flying on JAL? (Currently QF silver).
Also, does JAL still put people up in accommodation when there's a connecting flight? Just out of curiosity.
What's the best way for me to earn points and SC on this flight combo? I can't really see that it's worth the extra $600/trip to pay for a non-discount business fare just to earn some extra FF points. Or is it? I really need to fly the most direct route between Bne-NRT and going via SYD is a bonus since that's my hometown.
Any advice welcome! And any tips on skiing in Hakuba also gratefully received! Thx!
