Hi everyone. I am in Canada at the moment and paid for two tickets for myself and my father flying AC. Should I be able to earn miles for my father as well as myself. I have had star alliance points for myself transfered to my krisflyer account.

As far as I am aware there are no frequent flyer programs that allows a person to earn FF points for another person's flights. Some FF programs do allow the transfer of points from one account to another or even booking flights for another person from a FF account.

If KrisFlyer is your preferred FF program then your father will need to join KrisFlyer and have the FF number in the booking. KrisFlyer does not allow the transfer of mlies from one account to another but it does allow you to book awards for another person. Take note these miles will expire in ~3 years so you will need to use them before expiry.

OT, but I think BA allows you to create a family account where everyones points end up in the same place, but that’s not really helpful in this case.

Don't have the time to look it all up, on the star alliance front I have vague recollection that the British Midland program allows family transfers and Asiana also has some family membership approach. But I could be wrong.

You may well be right. Come to think of it Olympic Airlines Icarus frequent flyer program allows something similar. Still it is not something that is very common.
