Any chance we should consider preparing list of early morning arrival options to freshen up, by destination perhaps? Especially one that doesn't involve requiring arrivals lounges, or high hotel status to request early check-in etc.

I'm looking at a scenario were I might arrive into a city at 4am, but wont have a hotel to check into until the afternoon. So perhaps hotels that have let guest use showers and leave bags before checking in. Or other options such as

Note a previous thread on a similar note is no longer open for discussion: Best strategy for early morning arrival at a hotel This thread seemed to focus on using hotel status to get early checkin.

Of course you can always book and pay for the room from the night before (expensive i guess). Did that once in HK as had all day meeting following 530am arrival after all day meeting in SYD then overnight flight to HKG. Company had already budgeted for a day prior arrival anyway, but I couldn’t get out of meetings and to SYD in time to make the last “daytime” flight so got the overnight.

Public pools are another budget option - most have showers/change rooms, you can pay for a “swim” and use the showers etc.

eg.

$7 casual entry

The same might be Gym's, I'm not a gym member, but are there are any memberships that would allow reciprocal access in other countries?

Perhaps shared office space providers? do any of these facilities offer showers etc for use?

Fitness First has reciprocal arrangements with several countries - for a fee.

As an aside, it has some advantages domestically for both early and late departures. I can use any FF club in Oz for free. So if I can’t get an early / late checkout, I can still go to the gym for a shower, freshen up etc.

As for general strategy to get an early checkin - arriving on a Monday morning works in some places. The local business travellers generally haven’t arrived until later in the day and the weekenders have left by Sunday. So Sunday nights can be quiet and more likely to have empty rooms still on Monday mornings.
