I'm flying business class out of Rome, on an Emirates flight, at 15:25 but will be at the airport with luggage at about 10:45. Emirates say their counters will only open 3 hours prior to the flight (12:25) and even though they have another flight departing at 11:30 luggage won't be accepted at those counters for my flight.

Has anyone had any experience doing something similar?

No experience with FCO but in my experience EK will check you in for later flight if check-in is open for earlier flight.

These types of things tend to be airport specific ( that is, it depends if the airport is set up for more than one luggage stream, and/ or if the airline wants to pay for the facility of having early checked in luggage stored so to speak).

If you are going to be there, give it a try, else there is storage available
Baggage services - Aeroporti di Roma if you can go of and did something else.

Not FCO but similar question for ZRH - anyway to check in for F on 86 before 3hr pre dep check in window opens does anybody know?

Don’t arr ZRH until after 88 dep so guess I might be screwed for 3 hrs or so?
