My mother (god bless her) is travelling back from BKK - SYD in Oct on TG then transfering to Virgin DOM heading to OOL.

She has asked me about the duty free alcohol limits while travelling on the DOM leg once she has cleared customs.

Can anyone help with what is the limit ruleing for travelling with alcohol on domestic flights and can you carry it on or does it have to be checked in with your luggage.

Cheers
Nathan

No liquid restrictions currently apply on domestic flights leaving the domestic terminal (Domestic flights leaving International terminal still have the liquid restrictions).

Only things to keep in mind is Virgin Blue's hand baggage limits (shouldn't be a hassle) and some other rule about the amount/strength of alcohol allowed onboard (also not really an issue unless you have 99% proof alcohol or a couple of gallons of it)

Or as Virgin Blue phrase it:
http://www.virginblue.com.au/pdfs/dgoods/IATA_Table_2-3-A_002.pdf
"Alcoholic beverages, when in retail packagings, containing more than 24%, but not more than 70% alcohol by volume, in
receptacles not exceeding 5 L, with a total net quantity per person of 5 L."

and also the general carry on baggage restrictions here:

no limits for travelling with booze on a domestic flight. i have carried it on before. they won't let you drink it on their flight though :).

if you do check it in your luggage, wrap it in some of the clothes. should be all sweet.

cheers

A side note, be aware the one BIG problem for BKK to Oz flights that may still exist in October is that you basically CANNOT take duty free alcohol in your carry on (unless it's all in 100ml or less bottles which fit in a 'litre' clear plastic 'baggy').

In which case she needs to purchase upon arrival into Australia before going through passport control.
