Recently I was travelling Sydney to Perth. My boarding pass was for 1A (I'd had the ticket and seat booked for about 7 months, and did online checkin when it opened). I boarded pretty early, and after about 10minutes a FA approached me and told me I was sitting in the wrong seat. I told her I was in fact in the correct seat and showed her my boarding pass. The look of confusion on her face was quite amusing, she went away for a few minutes then came back and said that for some reason myself and another passenger had the same seat on our boarding passes, and would I be able to move as she was travelling with someone and they wanted to sit together.

I told her as long as I was still in business I don't care where I sit, ended up being moved to 1K or something which was all good. But the point is, how could the system possibly have allocated the same seat to 2 pax, and not even be picked up when being scanned at the gate?

You were bumped by a CL/P1. Did you see who sat there?

It was a lady and her 12year oldish daughter, and they had no status not even bronze (i saw her boarding pass when the FA was comparing mine and hers).

It's always to suit the FAs isn't it!
Should a passenger dare to request something for themselves it's always at a cost and too much trouble, but when it's the other way around we're expected to always say yes
