Dubai Connect in July – hot or not?

I'll be Gold at that time, so I'll be able to get into the lounge (although I heard the one I can get into gets super busy). I'll also check if anyone's going, so I can tag along. ;) I'll have to check in which ones I can even gets into as QF Gold.

But, given that I'll have 17 hours there, I'd still like to go out into the city, even if it's just for a drive around the place and a sight or two (preferably air-conditioned). Hopefully I'll be able to get some food at the hotel, take a shower and a bit of rest, and maybe go out when it's a bit cooler... I have early morning (7 an onwards) and the evening/night (until midnight or so). I'll just make sure I'm somewhere comfortable during the hot part of the day...

See if you can do one of the dinner in the desert tours, they should be able to get you back to the airport in time and it's something of a unique experience, no belly dancing or bar during Ramadan but still worthwhile.

Thanks, markis10.

Even though I work in the desert, it might be a good idea to try a different one. My flight out of Dubai isn't until 4 am or so, so I should have plenty of time. I guess I'll just ask around at the hotel and see if something can be sorted out.

Qantas have it on their activities website

4x4 Dubai Desert Safari

Sweet - thanks! Looks like I'll definitely be able to fit it in.

(I have a couple of friends who do belly dancing, so I might cover that part when I'm back in Europe, hehe...)

Its amazing to watch, I am of the age and stature that my belly dances with not to much help, time for a walk

I can't remember what we paid for the Desert safari plus dinner thing but we used the Entertainer book vouchers so it was BOGOF... Although with no belly dancing in ramadan I wouldn't do it :)

I'm that good with picking the time. :p

More and more Activities on Qantas are proving to be unavailable during Ramadan. I thought it would've been noted months ago when I checked and when they were still listed as available, e.g. Burj Khalifa, City Tours, Desert Trips etc. The only notes at that time were along the lines of 'no belly dancers', but no 'unavailable during that period'.

Now I'm expected to choose from two or three tours available on a specific date while all others are blanked out. Or just read a book at the hotel... ;)

JB83, you said you were able to go on top od Burj Khalifa. I just tried to book tickets, but there are none available. Any ideas?

Btw, some of my flights were cancelled, which made me miss out on Gold, so I can say good bye to the Lounge as well. I'll check if someone's around on the specific date...

Edit: While the official website doesn't offer any dates after 03 July, the Qantas Activities bookings offer Evening Entrance.

The Burj Khalifa tickets are only released 30 days out. I'm waiting for my dates in July too.

Okay, that confused me a bit as I recall having had the ability to book tickets approximately two months ago.

I've been checking constantly to try to book tickets and marked the release date in my calendar. Are you booking through the Khalifa site or a third party like Viator?

I checked both: the BK website only goes a month in advance, while Viator offers the date (18/07), but only for the evening visit. I'm guessing Viator then buys the tickets once the booking opens up.

P.S. Your nickname means "rifle" in Croatian. ;)

The dates are only up to July 3 which is 30 days out. Last I checked a couple of weeks ago they were only open to mid June.

You have to do the dawn tour if you can to avoid the lines.

We'll be in Dubai from 6th - 9th July. Hot. And Ramadan. Staying in the resort for the hot days.

Yikes. I don't arrive until 1 PM, though. I was going to go for the evening one, so I can catch the day and the night. Would that work?

If you have not got a choice so be it. They have special telescopes that give you an idea of what its like in different conditions, including a time machine.
