I had a 8hr 10 min stopover in DXB two weeks ago (MEL-DXB-LOS) but when the ticket was issued, the TA put the QF and EK flights through as separate tickets which meant I was not eligible for Dubai Connect - grrr. I wont let that happen again. 8 hrs of poor sleep in the EK FLounge is not something I want to repeat.

I will have a slightly longer stopover in early June (MEL-DXB-NBO) and I will make sure the TA tickets on a single ticket.

Has anyone used this service in Y yet? What are your experiences?

I'm weighing up using Dubai Connect or booking into the Crowne Plaza Festival City (which is quite close to the airport). I can't use the airside airport hotel since it's not corporate approved.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I had Dubai connect just the other day on a 9 hour layover SYD-DXB-FCO in Y. The hotel provided is nice and comes with complimentary WiFi (well it isn't free but it is billed to room and included in the Dubai Connect package.)

Sadly the process to get the voucher was a pain in the cough as QF for some reason failed to issue the voucher in SYD. I had to locate the EK Hotel Desk which no EK rep at DXB knew about. It is in the arrivals hall on the far left opposite the branded hotel info desks. If I had known about the process I would have had a solid amount of sleep but by the time I got there I only managed about 2 hours.

The bed was a little harder than I would have liked but overall the hotel was nice. It is the Millennium Hotel they put you up in which is about 5-10 minutes by bus from DXB.

Thanks Peabody. Was it this particular Millennium Hotel?

My partner will be transitting in DXB on the way to Europe and is booked on Dubai Connect. I'm planning to "sneak" into his hotel room as I'm actually on the same flights as him to DXB (but on an award flight which is not eligible for Dubai Connect) and then onwards to Europe as well. That's why I'm trying to find out exactly which hotel it will be?

I was in transit in DXB last month so while I was there I asked the transfer desk which hotel is provided under Dubai Connect. They mentioned that it's usually at Copthorne for Y class but I'm now thinking they may simply be referring to the Millennium & Copthorne group.

Back up plan is for me to make a flexible booking at the hotel just in case I can't get on the shuttle bus with him from the airport and then cancel the booking when I get there.

Worth noting that unless your married you cannot legally share a hotel room in Dubai, its taken seriously apparently.

Thx Peabody - appreciate the input.

Apologies for the necro post.

SWMBO has MEL-DXB-GVA next week with a 9hr layover in DXB both directions. She's requested accommodation via Dubai Connect. When viewing the booking this is displayed
"Please review the following items
Your hotel reservation has been requested, but has not yet been confirmed by the hotel. Please check again later or contact the hotel directly for confirmation of your reservation."

She has contacted QF twice without confirmation she'll get a room (She's NB, so the idea of a 9hr wait isn't overly exciting for her).

Has anyone else had this msg displayed?

Something I've been wondering, if for example we fly PER - DBX - MAN and have two options, 1 with a 2 hour stopover and the other with a 10 hour stopover, and we choose the 10hour stopover to breakup the flights, do we get to use hotel connect? If so, and we are not married, does that mean we will get separate rooms?

It's only available on the shortest connections. If you choose a long stopover yourself you are not eligible, but could of course pay for a hotel.

If you book a QFF award via DXB (flying EK or QF) will Dubai Connect be available? It seems to apply to Skywards members but what about us?

There is no restriction on fare types with QF, it just needs to be on either EK or QF ticket stock.

Marhaba! Greetings from DXB airport... A mini update from me (some news is good news in this case) - I think I've managed to get away with this. My partner (who was booked on Dubai Connect) and I arrived in DXB on the same flight last night and I found out from the information desk that the half hourly shuttle bus to the hotel was free. So I waited with him and even got on the bus without being asked for my voucher. When we arrived at the hotel, he checked in at reception while I waited near the entrance. Once I saw that he was done, I proceeded to the lift, past reception (who were still busy checking in other guests from the same shuttle bus) and went up to the room with him. The next morning, I left the room first and took the lift down to the basement car park and walked back up the car park ramp to the outdoor cafe at the hotel thus bypassing reception. My partner then checked out and we both got on the same shuttle bus. In the end I stayed for free!

Well done, though was there an issue with you going to the hotel room together? I mean you could just be a short term visitor?
Wish you safe & enjoyable travels..

Just a follow up - has anyone else used this service recently?
I am flying MEL-DXB-HAM return (in whY) in Dec and have managed to book Dubai connect online using MMB on QF. I have about 9 hours each way so should be worth the hassle of clearing immigration etc
The site mentions a voucher, will that be emailed to me at a later date?
Looking forward to trying this service out!
