There's no alcohol for the time being in Air New Zealand's Auckland domestic Koru Club lounge because - get this - the airline forgot to renew its liquor licence! It apparently received a renewal notice from the local council in October, then forgot to respond on time. The licence has now expired and the lounge is therefore completely dry.

The regional NZ domestic lounge in Auckland is still serving alcohol. So, I guess if you're flying NZ out of Auckland in the next few weeks, you might want to head to the regional lounge (which is before security) first for a drink, before heading upstairs!

I visited the regional lounge four weeks ago and it is very decent with lots of space and comfortable seating, right next to the twin-prop gates (but not noisy) and good views of the runway, great selection of food for brunch/lunch, barista coffee and the NZ wines are good. I understand it has only recently opened after a refurbishment and comparing to the pictures of the domestic lounge I would say it is a better option.

Surely someone should get fired for that... I mean, what's the point of a dry club?
