Apparently a B52 touched down in DRW tonight, temporarily joining the more permanent resident sister in DRW, would make an impressive sight! At least 47 years old, and some of the 90 remaining will be in service to 2040 - yikes! Makes the QF 767s and 744s look like spring chickens.

They are impressive though not as big as one would imagine when parked next to a B747 or similar.

No need for ETOPS :lol::lol: By contrast I wonder how many people realise how big a pig is?

Very few.

Reminds me of the classic story when an F16 pilot was told by ATC to slow down its approach as there was a B52 ahead with an engine out.

The F16 pilot responded with 'Ah the old dreaded 7 engine approach'

Would be cool to see some photos, no doubt someone will post some to Airliners or one of the other websites.

Nice!

I think with the BUFF it's more the noise than anything. I cant imagine how loud it would have been onsite with cold war drills with huge formations taking off within minutes

(wanders off to youtube to look for video......)

Might have to change the subject, another buff joined in the party landing at 5.30 tonight, hope they stay a while!

The B52 was still over on the RAAF side of DRW Airport this arvo and was visible from the passenger terminal.
