Sitting on my balcony today at Kent St Mascot which is right under the flight path of Runway 16L. I see a drone flying just above my building (im on the second highest floor). It flew away eastwards but then came back and flew towards Marrickville just as an emirates plane took off to the north flying over the drone.
What the hell.. what an idiot drone owner... how could someone be so stupid, and don't those things have a GPS NO FLY Zone?
How do you even report this and to who if it is back again?

Drones are interesting and it seems only a matter of time before they are more tightly licensed.
I am always concerned that folks will see/hear mine although I only fly(flew) it from and around home.
FF to yesterday when what appeared to be a mother and son parked at the bottom of the hill and proceeded to fly a drone.
The mother looked very uneasy and concerned , kept checking the display as he flew it...and I fantasised that they were spying on.. someone or something….. 🧐
Take away for me was that the drone from a few hundred metres up was almost silent and was very hard to see and follow.
Summary : Clever little domestic spying gadgets...

If the drone is flying dangerously close to a flight path, I would also be considering calling Police on 000, who can then immediately investigate and also pass the information on to airport authorities (& Airservices)

I’ve just purchased a drone that I was hoping to go and fly around, and to help me get out the house a little. It’s a pretty powerful little thing, and it’s less than 250g so the rule about not flying within 5km of the airport doesn’t apply. I was hoping any fellow pilots would be able to recommend good spots to fly around the Eastern Suburbs? I was planning on taking it to Coogee to go and fly it over the wedding cake island but I’d love some more practice Kodi nox before flying over that distance of water.
Assume you mean in Sydney, but the Coogee that I know of is a beach in the western suburbs of Perth where you could fly your drone, and there is also an island just off the coast - Garden Island. However if you flew your drone over that you would be in trouble as it is home for a rather large Navy base!
