Hi guys
Here's the situation - I've got two QF bookings with the following itinerary:
ET#1: KA437/QF128 KHH-HKG-SYD
ET#2: QF321 SYD-AKL
QF321 is actually LA800 operated by LAN. I've rung QF up and the very lovely res lady has actually put on-carriage notes into both bookings so it's reflected in both PNRs that there's a connection to the LAN flight to Auckland. She wasn't sure, however, if KA would be able to interline the bags, much less issue a boarding pass all the way to AKL, indicating that they may only check the bag to SYD.
To my horror, I've just checked EF and realised that LA is not one of the airlines listed in the "May check bags through to" section for KA although they do have an e-ticket interline agreement.
The QF lady did suggest that in the worst case scenario, to go to a QF staff when in transit in HKG and get them to retag the bags to AKL and they should also be able to issue the LAN boarding pass there so I guess that's the fallback plan if it all goes to pot with KA in KHH.
Does anyone have any experience with how amenable KA are with checking bags through on separate bookings and if it's even possible for them to do so?
Thanks very much guys for any information in advance.
