Hi all

Virgin platinum for years and decided that i don't get to enjoy much first class lounges whilst overseas and so decided to switch to qantas. Booked a whole bunch of flights before my anniversary date (30 June) and was wondering if anyone knew how double status credits worked.

I've got a big trip on 8 June that nets me more than 160 status credits (80 without double status). Am i at any risk that my double status will not come in before my anniversary year of 29 June? And if so would qantas recognise that and still make me platinum before my anniversary date?

You probably should have asked this in the existing thread but anyway..

It is most likely that by June DSC will post for flights within a week, usually 2-3 days, after the eligible flights. So the status will be updated pretty quickly (assuming the extra 80 are what you need to get over the 1400 mark for attaining WP).

However even if the DSC take the six weeks(as they claim in the T&C) to post, it is retroactive - in respect that they will still apply to the flight and membership year in which earned and status would be updated accordingly.

If it was me I would not be at all concerned.

I feel there is some contention if it took the full six weeks. There has been anecdotal evidence/discussion in other discussion threads of it not being in the previous year.

But I agree that it should normally be less than a week in the normal course. Around 2-3 days in my experience, but I also just buy the ticket and so far haven’t needed to make any booking changes.

Because it's QF sometimes the normal application of DSC do not occur as expected. Those need to be manually processed. Unfortunately QFF seem stubborn in demanding punters wait the full six weeks for this to occur then they may actually look at it. Very annoying indeed.

Of course the only effect of this is if status is not granted prior to trips post the earn date but before DSC are applied.

Chances are high though that the DSC will post as normal and it not be an issue.
