Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

The usual reward for its loyal QFF's - another opportunity taken to demonstrate QF's total contempt for its customers.

Is it increases to the very same fares, or is it that Sale & Saver type fares are less available? I think it's almost always been the case that during the [usually shorter] DSC promotion window for bookings, that Sale fares become less available, or are sold through very quickly. When this happens only the standard and flexible faring are there to choose from. People can choose to pay the premium, or they can wait until demand subsides at 12:01AM on the day after the promotion ends :)

While Qantas may argue that this is different products and thus the prices weren't changed (likely true), to thr laymen who doesn't care or know about "saver" vs "flex" vs "sale" all it looks like is prices went up.

Also the fact that they reappeared after indicates it's not a supply change so it was deliberately changed.

How regulators look at it will be interesting.

The yield managers Harry Potter like magic wand violas do have a lot to answer for

Is QF a dogs breakfast as sections galavant off in to their own direction with no co-ordination amongst each other and often contradictory and opposite measures deployed?

For example
Loyalty has clearly sold lots of points in the race for share of wallet and yet when the time comes, there’s just no redemptions because Yield management says so
It’s the big trap with multiple price points for rather much the same product same meal same seat quality, same overhead locked space, same IFE
Very MUCH the same yet customers paid quite different prices to “get onboard”

Double entendre …

Ah, but the layperson probably wouldn't be playing the game, whilst the ones in this room would be busily comparing SCs per dollar on the usual vs current options before walking away happily with their double-connection from MEL-OOL :p

Is it increases to the very same fares

Screenshots in the article show an identical fare basis but with additional carrier charges during DSC. Much harder for Qantas to defend this compared with pulling I inventory or similar.

We've all known this sort of gauging goes on, but for it to get some media coverage in the current anti-Qantas climate might result in some actual investigation by the ACCC.

Ah ok - that's different then... didn't realise it was adjusted within the same fare basis

Damn... I forgot about double SC points and changed some flights today to get home earlier... oh well, at least I'm home early - shame the SYD-BNE leg was absolutely chockers

Still eligible to earn so long as it’s a change within the same booking
Oh thank you, that's handy to know and a pleasant surprise! Be interesting to calibrate which of my flights are in the double SC date booking range when they finally drop

If QF had offered a great sale to NZ like they did a few years ago I might have tried to get P1. I regret a bit not booking more when return indirect J to NZ on DSC was about $1k. I didn’t expect prices to go up, certainly not nearly as much as they have since then

Flights booked(new bookings) between Feb 21-27 and flown between Feb 28th and Feb 14, 2025.

Flew MEL-SYD on March 4, still no DSC, flying return leg tonight, will report back when they do drop...

Pretty sure T's & C's say "8 weeks" re the doubles.
It does say 'within 8 weeks' though they usually arrive soon after the flight. Last two DSC promos I received every DSC the day after the flight. Several of the promos before covid the DSC dropped randomly between 1 and 3 days after the flight for me.

There is usually a delay for the early DSC drops once each travel period commences. Then it settles down to a more predictable pattern.
