Last August there was a double status credit offer for flights flown up to Jun 22. It was over a limited booking period, had to be activated and would be attached to the PNRs made during that booking period.

In October, VA subsequently announced a temporary increase in the status credit earn for all flights flown until 31 March.

Has anybody had any experience receiving both promotions (double status credits on the increased earn table)? i.e a flight was booked during the activated double status credit promotion during August and the PNR was/is to be flown October>March.

Was the August double status credits promotion applied against the temporarily increased earn table or the old table?

Or did VA not honor the August promotion and provide status credits in accordance with the increased table as it effectively providing double status credits for some fare classes?

From what I have seen the flight itself earns based on the increased table, but the double is awarded based on the original table.

I had the same question back when the general SC promo was announced and posted about it in another thread here: Earn SC on Reward Travel & Bonus SC Revenue until March 2022

As confirmed by others in that thread, both promos are applicable if you activated/booked during the offer period. You get the general enhanced SC earn, plus the bonus SCs you would have got from from the DSC offer (see example here: Earn SC on Reward Travel & Bonus SC Revenue until March 2022 of a J Saver Zone 2 booking getting 155 SCs, being the enhanced 95 SC earn rate, plus the 60 bonus SCs you would have got if the original 60 had been doubled).

Just came back from the trip that prompted me to ask the question, and mine worked out even better than that -- I had a Zone 2 J saver booking and somehow ended up with 175 SCs per pax/sector.

I think what happened here is that our tickets got reissued in December as a result of one of many schedule changes (at least according to the issue date on the updated itinerary), which somehow resulted in earning the enhanced SC rate for J (not J saver) for a post-Aug 19 booking (when the fare structure changed and they scrapped J saver), being 115 SCs, plus the 60 SCs from the DSC offer. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I guess VA IT works in mysterious ways...

I'm not complaining of course -- across the four pax in two directions that added up to 1400 SCs and was enough to get me to Plat and my wife to Gold with a bit of an adjustment to our family pooling arrangements. Very happy with that for a trip we were doing anyway (we had originally booked prior to the DSC offer; I cancelled to a credit and immediately rebooked when the offer came out). Under the original DSC offer we would only have picked up 960 SCs in total. I'd still have made Plat but getting my wife to Gold as well is a nice bonus.

And a strange quirk seems to be if Virgin re-book you on other flights at no charge, due to their sked change, it may well be if they allocate you inventory on heavily sold fights into FLEX fare bucket, or 'E' - that is what SC earn is based upon.

i.e a booking made in 'T' that they THEY choose to force onto a flight with only Flex inventory, seems to carry the Flex bucket into the new flights and hence many extra SC. And doubling if applicable. Forcing those seats at no fee might only be for Plats, no idea, but it does occur.
