Double Status Credits 2014

So a friend just received one about an hour ago. He's currently bronze and just lost his silver about two weeks ago and hasn't done much flying recently on QF, mainly on Virgin.

It was for any flight from the 11th Feb to the 4th Apr.

The offers seem pretty random. I'm gold and my year ends Sep 30. With current credits and bookings between now and Sep I'll make a little over 700 status credits and re-qualify for gold but received an email last night offering double status credit for flights booked and flown between 11/2 and 4/4..... My son (8) is Bronze and was around 10 status credits short of making silver last year but never received an offer....

Nothing here and still 320 required to requal WP by end of March.

Might just scrape over with lots of Y bookings planned, but it will be tight without a strategic JASA.

Only making bookings one at time just in case an offer comes in.

I wish I knew... been a QFF for ages and only ever received one targeted DSC offer (ooooh, poor me ).

Oh well, I recently attained WP till Mar 31 2015 so this current one would've been a bit wasted anyway. Fingers crossed I get a DSC offer after March 31 for next membership year.

Bah! I got one last night for up to 4/4 as well. Now the conundrum of working out whether to chase status or not. I need 320 status credits to retain gold.

The fiance and myself have 186k points right now. Honeymoon in April next year we're looking to book one way economy to Hawaii then LAX, a series of AA flights around the US returning to LAX (Surprisingly cheap at about $1,000) and then back on 2x96,000 point JASA's via Brisbane. That needs 6k more points.

For the one way flight and intra-US flights the gold status would be very handy. So the conundrum is do I waste points now and do a few more cc sign-ups/direct as much spending as possible into points in the next two months. Or use the points to buy the JASA from LAX, and then hope I get enough surplus points before June to go for an end of year status run.

I got a +50% offer for the same dates yesterday as well.

Currently WP, got a DSC offer in December for flights in January, which I used on a couple of JASAs to ensure requalifying for WP (though that won't actually happen until April).
