Double Status Credits 2011

I just got of the phone to Qantas as my girlfriend recevied the email and I didn't. I am 350 points off Platinum status (need to reach it by 30 Nov 2011). I was told 250,000 emails went out to members that were in danger of losing their status - I was in no danger of losing gold and therefore didn't get it. My gf is 140 off gold (but never been above silver).

Sounds incorrect to me, I have been Gold for the last couple of years and sitting on 1030SC's for this year with 5 months to go and approx 400SC's booked.

1. Did anyone who received the double sc offer in Nov/Dec 2010 also received today's sc offer?

As for me, I received it in Nov/Dec but not today.

I didn't receive it this time, but did in Nov/Dec, and used it for flights in January.

Doesn't sound right to me either. I'm on 1500 SC so not in danger of losing status. My QF membership rolls over into a new year at the end of this month however.

First time poster, but have been lurking for some time. I got to SG for the first time earlier this year through work travel and was looking at hitting about 740 SC's with my planned travel for this year...until yesterday! I got the double SC e-mail for the first time ever and have now booked a mostly J ASA SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD (all J class except for the TSV-BNE-SYD leg which will be back in economy) for the cost of 84,000 points and about $400 with an earn of 730 SC's. With the travel done on that run the actual points cost will come down to about 73,000 points. Travel will be done over the 26th & 27th June.

Only thing with this is that I'll be arriving into SYD on QF2 from LHR/BKK (in economy) on the morning of the 26th to go and jump straight onto the first sector of my JASA. Flying will be done over two days, with a sleepover in Adelaide. Think I'm going to be really knackered by the time I arrive back into SYD. Certainly hope WP will be worth it.

Big thanks to all the helpful posts on here. Would never have known how or thought to book JASA flights for SC's.

Cheers!

Crum.

Qantas... the second my WP expires i'm never flying you again on my own money you overpriced ##### and I'm doing everything in my power to get my corporate policy changed to use Air NZ who actually treat people nicely... instead of bumping me to the back of the plane cause someone wanted my seat... (this happened to me yesterday, went from row 24 to 34)

Re: Double SC Promo

I got the offer and I'm on exactly 1500 SC too. My anniversary is on May 31 however.

Nothing for me yet. my anniversary is also May 31 and I am just about to requalify for Platinum (hopefully). I've never had such an offer from Qantas previously. Ever. Nada. Zip. B*gger all. Squat.

I can't help but laugh at all the people in this thread who are seriously cut up about missing out on this (or rather, these) promotions.

I was one of those seriously cut up last year.

And curious. I received an email today.:D Just qualified WP for the first time in about March, and only days into my new membership year.

I get the impression people never get it twice. Is there anyone that did?

Cheers skip

I don't really get why some people are so up in arms about not receiving the offer. It's not an advertised benefit of the QFF program?

It reminds me of the life of Brian -there's no pleasing some people

A BIG thank you to QF for making the QPs even more crowded!

And a BIGGER thank you for removing ATA which was based on ....... overcrowding!

I would believe this to be wrong information due the number of high SC earners who have also received the promo.

Indeed, I don't see how QF could imagine I am at risk of losing my status if I'm only 5 days into a new earning year - with a pile of bookings already, running into August.

I did wonder if the pile of bookings (making it difficult to find spare days) was one reason I got the offer - that would be a real teaser!:D

Maybe they're predicting that you might not make the required SCs for your NEXT membership year! ;)

I think we need to look at it from a commercial perspective. Qantas aren't doing it for the love - they want you to book flights. And they do that by enticing you through something that doesn't cost much - SCs that give (potentially) lounge access and a few relatively low cost perks. And even going from SG to WP isn't much these days. You get a bit nicer food in the lounges (cost difference to run = not much, as it still comes from the same kitchen), you get better seat selection (also no cost to QF but keeps us happy), and a few priorities (luggage, check in etc) which are also no cost (same staff required, we just get our bags first or push past the checkin and boarding queues - in the end we end up in the same place at the same time).

They're not worried about you losing your status - they can just sell more seats, particularly around a time when other airlines are making changes to become more appealing.

Don't forget the extra baggage allowance for WP under the new rules.
