Double SCs for trans-Tasman book 10-15 May

The T&Cs at the bottom don't refer to the 5,000 points specifically. So I guess we can assume it's 5,000 points per flight (in addition to DSCs). Quite generous IMHO.

I do not understand why QF restricted this just to the AU-NZ sectors I am not sure their systems are smart enough to no include any domestic connections but who knows. I already have some NZ bookings and for a few extra SCs and some extra points it is not worth the fees to cancel and rebook. I get it may be worth it if you were chasing SG, WP or close to LTG, in my case the gap to retain P1 through to 23 is just to big at the moment and LTP that gap is even larger. I will pass on this one.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

@Mattg I like your thinking and posted last week something similar in the DSC thread. If QF changes my existing flight I will play the involuntary change card and then rebook with at DSC voucher. I am just testing what I can get away with and if the AU-NZ sectors (DSC) do not post I have not lost anything.

The offer T&Cs specify that bookings can be made through a travel agent. I assume this means that bookings made using my annual Amex flight travel credit will attract the DSCs?

Yes - historically bookings through Amex Travel (using the travel credit) have attracted DSC.

Its selected, the email recipients, that is, isn't it?
I didn't get any emails
I only got the email a few minutes ago, several hours after OP started the thread. It's probably just the software churning its way slowly through the mailing list.

In any case, was able to register successfully (with Qantas sending an an email confirmation) by clicking the link in OP's post, even though that led to a Qantas New Zealand page.

The point of the promo is to stimulate demand on trans-tasman flying. Clearly the VFR travel has all been booked and imediate travel has happened - all that pent up "Must visit grandparents/kids etc have not seen for over a year" demand. Business travel will still be poor and there's no connectivity beyond NZ in the majoruty so QF wants to fill those seats as best they can.

They have had similar promos before on internatonal sectors only earning DSC and that has been the case. It's easy enough programming wise: If flight# > 400 then no DSC, if flight# < 400 then DSC at its simplest. They don't even need to have a list of city pairs at this point, though they always could do it that way.

I remember not so long ago (well pre-COVID so a lifetime) the new normal was that general DSC offers had gone the way of the dodo.

The new new normal looks like DSCs as the new status support. A general DSC offer, and then another six weeks later; a record frequency I think. Both targeted by routes (domestic then trans tasman). In this environment further SC handouts, speculated about elsewhere, seem pretty unlikely.

Well I'll register and have a look at flights, but I might also keep an eye out for the next DSC offer (end of June?)

Cheers skip

Now that the initial pent up demand to fly to NZ may have subsided a bit QF is probably wanting to get a lot of bookings made on those routes so they can run as many services as they can fill. Prior to the bubble opening not many would have been prepared to book flights on the route. I can understand them doing DSC now.

I expect a similar thing to happen with future travel bubbles. Say a travel bubble opens with SIN for example, they may wait a month or two or whatever before doing a DSC promo for flights to SIN recognising those with family or other reasons to go won't need any encouragement to go early after flights restart.

Yeap, I remember QF specifically stating that DSC's had being enhanced, but they had returned (inc general DSC offers) well before Covid.
That said I wouldn't call anything about now "normal'. This is more "survival" for the airlines. Aka what can we offer, that really doesn't affect our bottom line, but might encourage bookings that we wouldn't have otherwise gotten.

Also +1 for just booking an NZ trip (made the booking last week).

My consolation is that I booked my ticket under a sale fare that didn't exist this week. More SC's would have gone onto the pile, but wouldn't have affected my status. Bonus points would have been nice, but I'll survive.

I may not have been clear enough and have not read all the T's & C's just saw @Kiwi_Flyer comment post 2 that the domestic don't count. It would have just been easier if the whole offer was just a simple AU-NZ.As someone who has to connect to get to NZ using QF say ADL-SYD-AKL why specifically exclude ADL-SYD. It was not my intention to suggest it should be an open DSC offering to/from anywhere. I am aware there has been other offers that were location specific, from memory there were reports of targeted DSC offers based on what seem to be search but that was a couple of years ago.

Which Status Credits count towards the rollover?
Status credits earned through flying or with our partners on the ground will count towards the rollover. Status Credits provided by Qantas as a bonus, support or gift will not count towards the rollover.
I think so, but note that the e.g. 600 SC handed out to every WP due to the pandemic to help keep status, does not count towards the rollover. So you could be sitting on 610 SCs (due to taking only one short domestic flight) as a WP and only have 10SC that will rollover.

MMmmmmmm. Not sure?

Anyone had a rollover with DSCs yet?

((((OT) but just saw that Skybus will start serving BNE and cheaper than Con-x-ion, bigger buses too, so good for people from NZ coming into BNE and not wanting to be gouged by the Airtrain.)))*
Just looked and it's not great a service every 2 hours from 6am until midnight. Unless it lines up perfectly with your arrival you could be waiting around a while. It might put a bit of pressure on the airtrain with lower fares but if you're arriving during the middle of the day it's still possible to get to the city for ~$3 by catching two busses and a train.

The only benefit I see is the late-night services, the last air train is at ~10pm whereas this bus will have a midnight service on weekday (probably only useful for a handful of flights).
