It still makes sense.

The old approach (easier elite qualification) doesn't give VA much control over its number of elites — a whole bunch of people work out how to game the system and suddenly you find yourself with way more elites than you expected.

The new approach (harder qualification with targeted triple status credits) gives VA precise control over its number of elites. They can choose which members to target, how much to target them, get precise data on which offers work on which people, etc.

Exactly, this and the previous status offer were extremely limited to a very small group, so they are controlling the numbers in the lounge now more than ever.
Before this year, the DSC/TSC offers were mostly available to everyone.
It will be interesting to see if they ever do DSC/TSC offer to all, ever again (I personally hope so).

Since yesterday, I know of ~20 Velocity members I've now spoken with and not one of them has received this offer, and they are of various status levels.

Looking at the activate web page source, it has this code:

{"title":"The maximum number of activations for this offer has been reached","value":"Promotion Cap Reached","ctaType":"primary","newTab":false}

Maybe they had a limited number of these offers available, and the maximum number were reached very quickly?

We did predict back in June that VA would launch a triple SC offer if they needed to incentivise forward bookings and lock in future revenue.

Timing lines up with the start of Q2 (gotta manipulate those numbers!), but it doesn't seem they're that desperate to retain current status holders - or they don't seem to know who to chase - given the rather haphazard targeting involved.

Not that I would have taken advantage of it, but I didn't receive the DSC or TSC offer either.

Double sc prob dont count towards lifetime status anyway. Likely theg wont be included in the 50% bum in seat required either. Cant see them making anything easier. Be more wasted useless SC under their enhanced brainfart
I did some flights from the last double SC offer and they counted towards my LT status.

what makes a successful "target" for VA. Would love to know what their "target" criteria was for this.

Thanks. Will call them tomorrow. They have clearly made an error on mine then. Part of the reason i have zero SC this year with them is unachievable New LTG I know the last two lots only accrued as single on ltg but were certainly credited as double / triple respectively. I couldnt be bothered going further back, just lost interest

Does velocity have a points calculator? Trying to work out if I can be bothered doing VA codeshares to EU in J, but trying to work out how many points / status credits I will earn doesn’t appear to be simple…

Yep it's not easy to get a grip of it all. Get your calculator out and a good old fashioned pen and paper!
