I think I already know the answer to this, but am just checking. If I buy another DONE4, am I able to change the outgoing date and/or the routing, after the ticket has been issued

Reason is, the Rand has fallen quite a lot again in the last week (a DONE4 is now $5350), and I know that I will need another DONE4 in the next month or so, and am thinking of buying one in advance. If I did, I would definitely need to change the outgoing JNB-LHR date, but possibly even the routing (depending on availability) to JNB-MAD

Thanks in advance

It will almost certainly be reissued and recalculated

Dave
This appears to be the case even though it is contrary to the published oneworld rules. JNB is in "TC2" and as such "unlimited changes without reissue" are permitted.

See here (rule 16(a)(1)(b))

A note about this; it seem that while it is generally it is less expensive to purchase xONEx's from AA, they appear to apply the American View on TC1 rules rather than the real world's.

Regardless, the standard rule about changing the 1st sector of any booking seems to be ( quite correctly imo ) applied. I expect that even booking through Qantas will cause the same issue

Dave

Regardless, the standard rule ...
Then why do the xONEx rules indicate otherwise? I know it's a 'standard' for most bookings, but why have a rules that cannot be accommodated?
Code:
(a) Rebooking/Rerouting
(1) Prior to departure
(b) Origin TC2/3
Unlimited changes permitted without charge.
Date/Time/oneworld carrier changes are permitted without reissue provided
Origin/destination/connecting points and inventory remain the same.

It's no different to "Changes Permitted" on a normal full unrestricted F ticket. If the change is to the outbound sector, it is reissued and repriced . The rules say Changes Permitted, but the 1st sector is always a special case

Other sectors can be changed a lot more simply

I just sent an email off to the Cape Town AA agent, and will let you know if she replies.

Then why imply a Distinction by having different rule text???
Code:
[B]16. VOLUNTARY CHANGES/REROUTING/PENALTIES
[/B]
    (a) Rebooking/Rerouting

        (1) Prior to departure

            (a) [B]Origin TC1[/B]

                (1) Before ticket issuance - Permitted without penalty.

                (2) After ticket issuance - [B]Changes to the first international
flight and preceding flights are not permitted less than
seven days prior to the date of the first ticketed flight.
[/B]
Date/time changes to other flights permitted at no charge.

Date/Time/oneworld Carrier changes are permitted without
                    reissue provided origin/destination/connecting points and
                    inventory remain the same.

Changes other than to Date/Time/oneworld carrier permitted
at a charge of USD125.00 per transaction.

            (b) Origin TC2/3

                Unlimited changes permitted without charge.

Date/Time/oneworld carrier changes are permitted without
                reissue provided Origin/destination/connecting points and
                inventory remain the same. ...
I guess the First segment issue being pointed out by Dave is a general IATA type of rule, similar to that defining transits as being within 24 hours.
