Hi All,

Am I right in thinking that if there is upgrade availability the upgrade request should clear immediately? I'm trying to get my wife an upgrade on QF642 from PER to SYD on 15th Feb, and on the return QF577 on 18th Feb. I'm SG but she's NB. I transferred the points to her and put in the request but the site is saying nothing is available. Does anybody have any tips or tricks on how I might get her a comfy seat? It's a belated Christmas pressie so would be nice if I can make it happen!

Thanks in advance!

Because there is no U (upgrade) availability on these flights. Sorry. Some may open up but unlikely given it's under a week to go

Thanks RichardMEL. I thought that was the case. Last minute decision so can't be helped. I've got a couple of lounge passes for her so that will have to suffice!

Don't despair, there's still a fair chance the upgrades might process within 24 hours of departure.
Or failing that, if she can access the lounge with a pass, she can request an ODU (on departure upgrade.)

Thanks! I'm wondering if my SG status could help her at all? Thinking not as she put in the upgrade request ....

If you're on the same booking then maybe, otherwise it would not. You've got to be P1 to help improve family members on separate bookings' upgrade chances if you use your points.

Pleased to report that the upgrade for PER - SYD tomorrow morning came through this morning. Happy wife! Not so hopeful for the Sunday return leg....

That's good to hear. From my limited experience, it appears that QF process waitlist upgrade request from about T-24 (for SG at least). I was in a similar situation as you and was please to receive the SMS confirmation from QF at around T-28 that my upgrade from SYD to PER cleared.
