Domestic to International - Melbourne-Syd-Hong Kong

Hi everyone

It's been a while since I did this. Am flying to Hong Kong on Friday from Melbourne, via Sydney (unfortunately). I know that luggage is routed through, and I can't recall how long before hand i had to check in for this flight, and do I check in at domestic or international? I am a Qantas Club member. Can someone remind me please?

There is an international connections desk at the Dom terminal they'll check you in plus check your passport etc. I'd check in an hour before and relax in the lounge!

What are your flight numbers? You're probably domestic Mel - Syd so check in for both flights at Mel domestic, land T3, qantas bus to T1 & off to the lounge.

Hi, thanks, the first one is QF402. I know the last couple of times I did this it was via bus at Sydney so I was expecting this would be the same. I just couldn't remember about the check-in, so thanks.

check-in time for qantas domestic to international is recommended at 60 mins, and check-in closes at 30 mins:

The transfer bus in SYD leaves from opposite gate 2.

If you have luggage to check check in at the Melbourne T1 (Domestic) "International Connections Desk". They'll issue all BP's there. Being on 402 you have to be checked in with luggage deposited by 7:15am. Having QP, I'd get the to airport ~6:30am, check-in and relax until your flight boards around 7:25am.

Qantas International Check-in Times

On arrival into SYD, head to the 'seamless' transfer desk near gate 1 and await your next bus to SYD International.

It's changed a bit in the last year or so in SYD and while you still head up the escalator after getting off the bus, the corridor deposits you into the main check-in Hall. You need to make your way down to the entrance to emigration.
