I don't know where you heard that from.
Yes to access at the QP, no to J lounge access unless flying J.

QF Gold members get complimentary QP membership anyway. If you had a QP membership before becoming SG then that would've been suspended until you fall below SG.

As for lounge entry, SG get access to domestic QP's and international J lounges.
