I am booked on a domestic leg of an international flight (QF 19) in a couple of months. Since booking, my wife has changed all her ID to my surname (we were only married in January) and so has no Govt ID in the name on the flight. This would not normally be an issue for domestic as ID is not required and can check-in online. Since we are going through the international terminal - will she at any time be asked for ID? If so - would a cancelled passport (with old name) together with her new passport suffice?

ID is required for domestic in the international terminal - customs will want to see it.

Yes the new + old passport should suffice. It's certainly not uncommon for people to change names.

I dare say it will, but I would be notifying the airline to have them put remarks into the booking just incase and seeking clarification at the same time that it will suffice.

I'd contact the airline and carry the official version of the marriage certificate.
